Job Description Summary


Accelerate, Wentworth Innovation + Entrepreneurship Center was established in 2012 and offers programming to foster student engagement around innovation and entrepreneurship ( With a strong maker culture at play students work interdisciplinary with a focus on product creation and social impact.
The Assistant Director, Programming will be able to impact and shape the increased innovation activity at Wentworth by developing and delivering programs and resources relevant to both, existing resident startup teams as well as entering emerging entrepreneurs and innovators.

• Maintain and develop programs, topics, and resources tailored to the needs of emerging and experienced interdisciplinary startup teams.
• Provide topics/programming to recruit new students to engage with Accelerate and build campus community.
• Oversee all aspects of programming logistics, e.g. speaker coordination, marketing, room setup, audio/visual, catering, social media, newsletter content, photography, follow up.
• Effectively onboard and manage student staff and orchestrate volunteers to launch and organize events and workshops successfully.
• Nurture and initiate partnerships with student clubs, internal and external stakeholders, other higher education institutions, industry, and service providers to provide strong programming and enhance the student experience.
• Serve as a liaison between workshop leaders, speakers, and judges and cultivate a solid network of speakers/judges.
• Maintain and evolve a database of workshop leaders, speakers, judges, and alumni.
• Capture event statistics and regularly refine programming based on performance indicators.
• Maintain and source external events/partnerships where Accelerate students can attend or represent Accelerate.
• Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Team Development which teams are ready to be placed at external events.
• Lay the foundation for Maker Space community and programming, safety training, and overseeing equipment needs and inventory.

Other Tasks:
• Actively participate in recruiting students throughout the semester to sustain a solid pipeline.
• Promote Accelerate programming at open houses, student fairs etc.
• Provide content for quarterly newsletter.
• Update statistics in marketing materials and collaterals.
• Evolve the Accelerate brand and participant experience.
• Other tasks may be assigned.


Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education Master's degree
Minimum Work Experience Required 1 - 3 years
Preferred Work Experience 3 - 5 years
Minimum Knowledge Required Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
Preferred Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

• Insight and knowledge of innovation ecosystems and startup environments
• Proven track record of program development and measuring program performance ideally in incubator/startup environments
• Passion for student development and proven ability to pro-actively engage students in co-curricular activities.
• Strong organization and systemic thinking skills and desire to work in a fast paced environment while also constantly seeking to improve and professionalize internal processes, programs, and procedures.
• Experience with different formats and methodologies, e.g. design thinking, bootcamp, showcases etc.
• Ability to network effectively inside and outside the organization as well as across all levels
• Sensibility of design and branding for marketing materials, installations across campus, etc to attract student audience.
• Strong desire to collaborate across disciplines and effectively communicate on a team and organizational level.
• Self-starter and high comfort level to iterate with a can-do attitude.
• Experience in product, technology, social and/or civic innovation is a plus.
