Job Description Summary

The Director of Enterprise Technology & Information Security Officer is responsible for providing leadership and management to the network/infrastructure team of the Division of Technology Services, as well as providing leadership and oversight of the institution’s information security program. Under the general direction of the Interim Vice President of Technology Services and CIO, the Director is responsible for all aspects of enterprise infrastructure and information security, including oversight of incident and problem resolution, successful delivery of projects and service requests, supervision of technology services employees, assistance in budget preparation and management, recommendations for technical acquisitions and development of policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. The Director will work closely with the CIO and Technology Services leadership on strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the DTS and Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Minimum Education Required Vocational or technical training
Preferred Education Bachelor's degree
Minimum Work Experience Required 3 - 5 years
Preferred Work Experience 5 - 8 years
Minimum Knowledge Required Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.
Preferred Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications

Network Operations: Directs and coordinates activities of staff engaged in network operations and telecommunications. Responsible for long-term planning of network infrastructure, and integration of internal and external services/applications with existing systems. Develops and monitors goals of staff and department, determines equipment purchases and ensures maintenance agreements are fulfilled and appropriate for needs of Institute.

Assists the VP/CIO in policy creation on network, services, and security issues. Working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations related to network systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts and practices and ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.

Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff.

Establishes projects and priorities for Network Operations and Telecommunications. Adjusts hours of work, priorities, and staff assignments to ensure efficient operation, based on work load. Ensures that a structure is in place to ensure day to day policies and procedures are carried out efficiently. Provides staff leadership and ensures resources are adequately provided or identified.

Is the primary architect of new and existing services and systems. Ensures that all staff have adequate information and skills regarding new systems.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Meets with other department directors to discuss progress of work/projects, identify/resolve problems, and ensures that standards for quality and quantity of work are met. Identifies problem trends and provides possible network solutions to help elevate recurring issues. Also, assists in identifying technical resources/applications that can aid in supporting a business process.

Provides leadership and oversight of the Institute’s information security program.
Evaluates risks to the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and resiliency of institutional data, information systems (with Enterprise Applications), and technology infrastructure;
Develops and recommends mitigation strategies to address information security risks;
Oversees the development and provides leadership in the development and execution of incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
