Job Description Summary

As the Assistant to the Director of Athletics, the incumbent will be responsible for training, supervision, and evaluation of our work-study program. The incumbent will be responsible for all facets of men’s & women’s volleyball home game management, supervising both event workers and statisticians. This position will assist Director of Athletics with prominent events throughout the year and assist with all major components of running a successful NCAA athletic department. This position requires a range of skills that include ability to supervise, multitask, manage conflict, and maintain organization. This job requires flexible job hours including nontraditional hours, including weekends.

Essential Functions

Jointly oversee the federal work-study program which includes hiring, training, and scheduling for all student workers, monitoring workers signing in and out for their scheduled shifts, and positioning workers within the facility. Coordinate with payroll and Student Financial Services to verify student paperwork and correct payment and sign off on time sheets at the end of each pay period.

Responsible for entire game management for all home men’s and women’s volleyball matches. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, resolving any conflicts, and supervising all appropriate staff members.

Essential Function

Responsible for creating all transportation schedules for all away events. This includes predicting budgetary dollars necessary for upcoming budgets and then adhering to the budget when developing transportation schedule. Serves as the primary contact between the Department and outside transportation companies (bus, rental car) and coordinate usage of the Department’s buses for athletic teams and other departments on campus. In addition, assists with budgetary tasks (monthly credit card statements, check request, fundraising & operating budget monthly statements), and assist with onboarding initiatives for new staff.

Essential Function

Serve as department’s first line of communication with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Handles the day to day inquiries of all constituents and respond in a timely and appropriate manner. Assist with overseeing all changes with policy and procedures and to assure all appropriate paperwork is submitted and complete, serves as contact person for pertinent departments throughout the campus, assures all the following needs of the department are met: ordering office supplies, Physical Plant work requests, overnight recruiting paperwork, and meal cards

Responsible for creating, organizing and staying within budget for all prominent athletic events, including, but not limited to: Hall of Fame Dinner, Ring Ceremony, alumni games, and 3.0 Club receptions.
