Job Description Summary

The position of Director of Leadership Giving is new to Wentworth and will play a critical role within Wentworth efforts to deepen relationships with alumni and donors. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Director of Leadership Giving will develop, plan and implement successful strategies to secure leadership gifts for the Institute’s fundraising priorities. Generate new and renewed gifts between $1,000 and $25,000 to the Institute’s Annual Fund using leads generated through face to face visit, phonathon and direct mail campaigns. Identify prospects from the Leadership Gifts donor and prospect pool who may have potential to make Major Gifts ($10,000+) and liaise with the Gifts officers accordingly. The Director of Leadership Giving will recruit, train, supervise and evaluate a team of 3 to 5 gift officers. The Director will also personally manage a select group of donors and volunteers. Work with the other members of the Advancement team to coordinate and expand activities that promote Leadership Gifts through events, print, and online communication. In addition, the Director of Leadership Giving will partner with other senior members of the Advancement team to advance several programmatic objectives. Develop and lead the implementation of a Leadership Giving Program that increases income from consistent donors and high net worth alumni, staff, parents of students and friends in accordance with develop agreed targets. Develop and implement, in agreement with the Director of Annual Giving and Donor Relations a stewardship program that supports the success of Leadership Giving activities from prospect/donors with $1,000+ annual capacity.

Essential Function

Hire, coach, support and evaluate staff responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, corporate and foundation prospects capable of making a current-use gift and/or capital , endowment gifts $25,000 or more over a five-year period. Establish appropriate metrics to assess individual and program performance. Should provide a supportive and collaborative environment that engenders commitment to reaching visit goals and maximizes financial support for Wentworth. Manages relationships with colleagues in departments across campus to ensure that staff members have the information and resources they require to effectively fulfill their duties.

Manage a select portfolio of prospects capable of making comprehensive gifts of five figures or more in support of Wentworth’s institutional priorities.
